We are currently working with a US-based company on a cloud-based platform responsible for management of industrial IOT devices, ingesting, storing and processing their monitoring measurements. The platform allows to manage and monitor millions of devices installed in locations all over the world.

The Enterprise Digital Success Centre of Excellence (EDSCoE) seeks to hire a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Lead. This Centre of Excellence is dedicated to company's Cloud Platform and Connectivity, accelerating and expanding our IOT technology solutions, enabling all water assets to be digitally connected across the globe.

The SRE Lead will be responsible for System availability and performance, efficiency, monitoring, releases, capacity planning and emergency response for the Platform  services, as well as evaluating the work delivered by the software development team that may impact any of the core performance capabilities of the platform. 

 



Your daily responsibilities

  • Serve as the Site Reliability Engineering lead for the Platform;

  • Work closely with the Software Development team, Product Owners and Product Management to maintain and extend the operation function and performance of the Platform services;

  • Engage with stakeholders across our client application teams to ensure the performance, reliability, availability and maintainability of the Platform services, making any changes necessary to optimize the solution;

  • Work with the Global DevOps team to ensure the the Platform Infrastructure continues to be fit for purpose as a high availability service;

  • Act as first responder (on-call where necessary) in the event of reported service issues and manage the situation through to a resolution;

  • Take a leading role in the deployment of the Platform releases;

  • Take a leading role in managing the support backlog;

  • Be an active member of the global the Platform Development team;

  • Define and implement deliverables that will improve the performance, reliability, availability and maintainability of the Platform services;

  • Drive monitoring as a means of proactive fault finding and fault resolution;

  • Prioritize activities in collaboration with Product Management that will provide measurable improvements to the overall performance of the Platform;

  • Keep abreast with Service support and Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends;

  • Work with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams across different time-zones.


We need you to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industrial experience);

• Proven ability to operate as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar software development or service operations role;

• Previous experience or exposure to a Dev Ops related role;

• Experience with Java-based microservices and Spring boot (or alternatives)

• Experience in a hands-on development role, or working within a mature software development team;

• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills;

• Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset;

• Technical and personal credibility to engage with cross-functional technical teams;

• Proactive attitude;

• Experience of working within development teams using Scrum.




Would be great if you have

  • Prior experience in Cloud solutions, IoT or technology in general would be beneficial;

  • Knowledge of Agile processes, principles and values would be beneficial;

  • Proficiency in using Jira® and Confluence®;

  • Certification relating to AWS and/or Dev Ops would be an advantage.
